BOTOX® Injections

Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum Toxin, commonly known as BOTOX® (or ‘botox’), is a “Prescription Only” Medication that has been used for over 20 years.

BOTOX® works to suppress the action of fine facial muscles, so that the skin appears smoother.

Use of BOTOX® can also be preventative i.e. suppressing muscle movement prevents the appearance of further lines

When injected, Botulinum Toxin, reversibly freezes or relaxes the muscle. Therefore, it may be used to treat facial lines caused primarily by the action of the muscles that have no significant function. Examples include:

  • the deep crease between the eyebrows
  • crow’s feet wrinkles
  • forehead lines
  • lines around the mouth and on the neck

Ageing is associated with the development of wrinkles and furrows on the face. These lines may develop as a result of weakened dermal collagen from sun and gravity, or due to facial muscle action on the skin.  Injection into frown lines has been shown to be very successful.

Good results may be obtained after a single injection session and may last three to six months. The full effect of the injection may take up to 21 days to work. Some patients with very powerful muscles may not see a complete relaxation of the targeted area, but subsequent injections will further weaken them.

Treatment Combinations

BOTOX® treatment may be combined with dermal fillers for a fuller rejuvenation.  Dermal fillers work in a different way, by replenishing volume in deeper lines and creases, so can work very well alongside BOTOX®.

Baby BOTOX®

Baby BOTOX® uses the same botulinum toxin injectable solution.  However, it describes a practice of administering the treatment for a very natural look.

This option is perfect for first time BOTOX® patients, younger patients or those who want to preserve their facial movement while achieving younger-looking skin.

Baby BOTOX®

The term “Baby Botox” does not describe a different product or strength of the popular BOTOX® injection.  The same Botullinum Toxin is used.

The difference with “Baby Botox” is the very delicate administration of the injectable for really subtle results.

Baby Botox appeals to a number of patients:

  • “First timers” – those who have never had botox before and are concerned not to overdo it
  • Younger patients – who only need a light dose to stem the early signs of ageing
  • “Preventative patients” – who are using botox as a preventative measure, to suppress muscle activity so that lines and wrinkles do not develop as they tend to with non-users
  • Natural look seekers – patients who want an exceptionally subtle look to their results
  • Patients needing facial movement – e.g. actors/actresses, who want to keep their full range of facial expressions, yet have some subtle suppression of the signs of ageing so that they look good on screen or in photos

Dr Barbara Kubicka is at the forefront of Baby Botox, as she supports the natural look which Baby Botox is about.

Dermal Fillers

Fillers Treatment Options

Dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane can be used in a variety of ways to add volume to the skin.

  • Anti-ageing – filling out lines, wrinkles, creases and folds
  • Lip enhancement – plumping or adding volume to the lips

You always have the choice to continue or change the combination of treatments, and the procedure can be repeated as often as you like.

To maintain best results, the optimum frequency for dermal filler treatments is:

  • Anti-ageing treatments tend to be repeated every 6-12 months
  • Lip plumping treatment tends to be every 4-6 months

Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injections

Since the launch of HA Gel for Aesthetic purposes in 1996, more than 1,000,000 people, worldwide, have been successfully treated for wrinkle correction and lip enhancement.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is one of very few substances that is identical in all species and tissue types.  The product consists of stabilized hyaluronic acid and physiologic sodium chloride solution. It is a clear, transparent and viscous gel supplied in sterile syringes. There are different versions of HA Gel, designed to match the tissue structures at different levels of injection. HA Gel presents some advantages to other dermal fillers:

  • Sterile gel
  • Long lasting
  • Biocompatible and biodegradable (non permanent)
  • No animal ingredients
  • No skin test needed

Your Treatment

No pre-testing is needed. A session takes about 30 minutes. During treatment the gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts using a very thin needle. Due to the addition of a local anaesthetic, this is a surprisingly comfortable experience, even in delicate areas such as the lips.

The gel then gives natural volume and smoothes the wrinkles.

The secret to a beautiful result is in the practitioner’s artistry.  Dr Barbara Kubicka’s credentials in this area are second to none.

Lip Enhancement Fillers

Plumping or adding volume to the lips

Lip enhancement is one of the most popular uses of dermal fillers in the UK today. It appeals to women and to men of all ages, as it adds volume to the lips for an attractive appearance.

Full lips are always in fashion, but it is important not to look overdone. Dr Barbara Kubicka is renowned for her artististry in creating a beautiful yet natural look for her patients.

Lip plumping treatment tends to be repeated every 4-6 months to maintain the benefit.

Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injections

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a clear, transparent and viscous gel supplied in sterile syringes. It occurs naturally in the body and retains water to add fullness. During treatment the gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts using a very thin needle or a cannula. As fillers contain a local anaesthetic, this is surprisingly comfortable, even in the lips. The gel then gives natural volume and smoothes the wrinkles.

Sculptra Deep Fillers

Sculptra® is a longer lasting more gradual form of dermal filler that replenishes your own facial collagen where, over time, volume in the face has been lost.

Collagen is the substance your body produces to give your skin a firm and youthful appearance, but from an early age the amount you produce slows down and facial volume is lost. Sculptra® can redress the balance by stimulating collagen production again.

This treatment can be used to gradually and subtly smooth out lines, wrinkles and folds, as well as tackling loss of facial volume which can happen with the natural ageing process or dramatic weight loss.

sculptra fillers

Sculptra® can be used to treat most of the areas on the face specifically:

  • Deeper wrinkles, lines or folds
  • Hollow areas e.g. gaunt cheeks
  • Cheekbones – to add definition
  • Jowls – to build out saggy jowls

Poly-l-lactic acid, the main ingredient of Sculptra® has been used medically for over 25 years in the treatment and repair of facial scars and contour defects. Sculptra® is long lasting, biocompatible, and biodegradable.

Treatment with Sculptra

A local anaesthetic cream is used so that treatment is painless. An ice pack may be used immediately after treatment to calm any swelling. Patients can normally return to work immediately after treatment.

Following an average of three treatments most patients will see a noticeable difference in approximately six weeks. Please note that in some patients further treatment may be required and a difference may not be noticeable for more than 6 weeks.

Results of Sculptra fillers are particularly long-lasting and can be expected to last around 2 years.

PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma [PRP] Skin Rejuvenation Therapy is one of the latest, autologous anti-aging, skin rejuvenation procedures available; offering a natural approach to improving the overall texture and tone of your skin naturally, by using your body’s own resources.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contains high levels of tissue growth and regeneration factors which are vital to cell growth and rejuvenation.

By using and refining the patient’s own unique tissue, Dr Kubicka can harness their own  growth factors and healing properties to promote natural rejuvenation and skin improvement with no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.

PRP works to revitalise the skin by improving blood supply and stimulating collagen formation, the results of which improve and increase over time. PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy can actually last longer than chemical treatments.

PRP rejuvenation therapy is based on solid science and works well when prepared and applied by an experienced and trained cosmetic doctor; plastic surgeon or aesthetic clinician.

Aesthetic Uses of Plasma Therapy

  • reduces wrinkles and lines
  • tackles blemishes
  • improves acne scars
  • promotes more even skin tone and texture
  • generally improves the overall condition of the skin

The PRP Procedure

As skin ages it loses it’s elasticity. PRP Rejuvenation Therapy is a cutting-edge, anti-aging, skin rejuvenation procedure with the power to trigger the body’s own tissue regeneration potential from within.

  1. Preparation – PRP [platelet rich plasma] is prepared from a small amount of the patient’s own blood, using clinically tested, state of the art concentration systems (see picture), to specific clinically defined concentration levels.
  2. Injection – refined Platelet Rich Plasma is then carefully injected into the treatment area with a fine dermal needle. This part of the procedure is similar to mesotherapy, but the key difference is the patient’s own purified plasma rich blood is used.
  3. Regeneration – once injected, platelet growth factors are released from the plasma, stimulating cell growth and formation of blood capillaries. Over time, new collagen will be produced and skin elasticity will improve with a noticeable difference in tone and texture of the skin.
  4. Hydration – after PRP treatment, the skin’s ability to retain skin moisture is also improved, which contributes to a healthier complexion.

The entire procedure will generally take between 20 mins to one hour, depending on the area being treated. Results are not instant, as the results of PRP are based on the body’s natural response to it’s own platelets. Result will continue to improve for 4-6 weeks as the skin heals and rejuvenates from within. The full effects last around a year, longer than most dermal filler treatments.

Available in London at Clinicbe

PRP therapy is only available at selected skin clinics in the UK, including Dr Kubicka’s exclusive Clinicbe.

Mesotherapy

Microscopic Injections for a Variety of Conditions

Mesotherapy was introduced to aesthetic medicine by French Doctor Michael Pistor and since then is very widely used for different types of treatments. Medications are injected directly into the skin at the site of the pathology or problem area(s).

Mesotherapy introduces microscopic quantities of homeopathic medications, traditional pharmaceuticals, vitamins, mineral and amino acids into the skin to treat a variety of conditions. All medications are selected for the specific condition being treated. This is achieved by using a very small needle with multiple injections.

Problems which respond particularly well to mesotherapy include:

  • Skin rejuvenation – “mesolift”
  • Sun damage, photo-ageing
  • Dark circles around eyes
  • Cellulite
  • Stretch Marks
  • Dry, discoloured skin
  • Skin tightening – face, abdomen, legs
  • Hair loss

Mesotherapy can eliminate cellulite on the legs and buttocks, breaking down the orange-peel appearance of skin, and producing a smooth contour.  To treat cellulite, medications are injected into the skin and the fat layer beneath.

Mesotherapy can also be used for treatment around the eyes especially in the case of those having dark circles/bags and lines.  Dr Kubicka’s exclusive “Eyedealeyes” treatment, which is a combination treatment, helps to rejuvenate the eyes making them look less tired and younger in appearance.

Mesotherapy is completely safe when performed by a well-trained physician. All patients return to work the same day.

Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis – Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating or known medically as hyperhidrosis is a clinical condition where parts of the body sweat beyond the body’s physiological needs.

This uncontrolled appearance of sweat and can affect those who suffer with this significantly on an emotional and social level.

Hyperhidrosis can also happen at any time without the usual triggers of anxiety or strenuous activity. The areas most commonly affected are:

  • Underarm/armpits
  • Hands
  • Feet
  • Face/forehead

The condition can affect men or women and the sweating levels will also be different for each individual.

Excessive Sweating Treatment

There are varying success levels of treatment available; including herbal medication, prescription oral medication, sprays or lotions. However, these can all have side-effects and not necessarily get to the root of the problem. Surgery may be considered in extreme cases. However, surgery is never without risk and additionally, previous patients have reported that the problem can simply move to another part of the body.

As yet there is no permanent cure. However, botox injections have been medically proven to “dry up” excessive sweating for months at a time, offering welcome respite for hyperhidrosis sufferers.

Botulinum Toxin injections

The most commonly used area for hyperhidrosis injections are the armpits.

Small botox injections made under the surface of the skin of the underarm stops the nerves in the skin that control the sweat glands from working so that the excessive sweating literally dries up.

Treatment by botulinum toxin injection can last between 4 to 12 months, however, for it to keep working treatment will need to be repeated as the effects begin to wear off.

Botulinum toxin is not yet licenced to use on the palms or face for the treatment of excessive sweating as there is a risk of small muscles being injected that could stop the muscle from working.

Aqualyx Fat Reduction Injections

Aqualyx fat reduction injections are a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, which can be used for precise targeting of unwanted fatty deposits. This treatment is especially effective in smaller or delicate areas, where a non-invasive treatment is most desirable and effective.

Treatment is especially effective for the treatment of problem areas that may not be eliminated with diet and exercise alone, such as facial areas or stubborn pockets of bodily fat.

Popular treatment areas include:

  • face
  • neck
  • chin
  • jowls
  • knees
  • arms
  • buttocks
  • abdomen

How Fat Reduction Injections Work

Fat reduction injections allow the Doctor to inject directly into the treatment area.

When injected directly into fat deposits, the injections help to breakdown and emulsify the fat deposits, which are then naturally excreted by the body’s own mechanisms.

Treatment involves dozens of small injections which work to stimulate the body’s own metabolic process specifically in the treatment area, so that the fat breaks down for a smoother and more defined profile.

One session will achieve some progress, although full results take around 2 months due to the body’s natural processes. A course of sessions is normally recommended for optimum results.

An anaesthetic cream is used to make the procedure comfortable and painless.

Dr Barbara Kubicka includes fat reduction injections in her exclusive “Neck and Jawline Programme” to redefine the jawline, melting away fatty deposits beneath the chin for a sharper profile.
